NEW YORK — Porsche Cars North America Inc. on Tuesday said September U.S. auto sales rose 3.1 percent on the strength in its 911 and Boxster lines.
The automaker said in September it sold 2,211 vehicles, up from 2,144 vehicles during the same period a year-ago. Adjusted to include an extra selling day in September of this year compared to last, sales were mostly flat.
Sales of its 911 lineup increased 10.8 percent to 730 vehicles from 659 a year ago. On an adjusted basis, sales of 911 models rose 6.5 percent.
The automaker said Boxster sales jumped 59 percent to 733 vehicles from 461 vehicles a year ago.
The automaker also reported further softness in sport-utility vehicle sales, where its Cayenne fell 25 percent to 747 vehicles from 997 vehicles a year ago.
Year-to-date, the automaker said sales rose 10.9 percent to 26,411 vehicles from 23,819 vehicles during the same period in 2005. On an adjusted basis, year-to-date sales rose 10.9 percent.
